Count Down to the Reunion

This msg is from Karen for those who may have not gotten the e-mail she sent of if you are like me, put it in a folder where you can't find it. Anyway, here is her msg and we hope to see you soon. Love and hugs. - LP

Dear Family,

The time has come!! The Anton Peterson Family Reunion will soon be a reality at Falls Creek Retreat Center, Raymond WA, August 1st through August 3rd, 2008. This will be the final letter ( I hope) before the reunion.

The check has gone off to the Retreat Center. We are a few dollars short of the guaranteed minimum. I know that several of you have indicated you are willing to pitch a few more dollars into the pot to help out. I won’t really have a figure of the shortage until I get to the Reunion but I don’t think it will be too bad, especially if some are willing to kick in a few more dollars. If you can persuade one or two more to come all the better, we will have room and that can make up for the short-fall.

As mentioned before all beds are pre-made, all linens provided, including spa towels. Bring a swimsuit for the hot tub. Weather in August can be really variable in the Pacific Northwest. Lows may be in the upper forties especially on the coast and highs can get up to the 90’s although the humidity isn’t as bad as a lot of places. Dressing in layers is usually the best.

Arrival time is after 2:00 p.m. on 8/1/2008 and departure time is 2:00 p.m. on 8/3/2008. Several have indicated that they will have to leave in the morning.

Directions to the Retreat Center: A rural area about 30 miles south and 35 miles west of Olympia. From I-5, coming from either Portland or Seattle, take Exit 77. Drive west on Highway 6 for 34 miles to milepost 19. Turn left onto Elk Prairie Road. Drive three miles and turn left on Falls Creek Road. Drive over the bridge and park by the conference center.

Tentative agenda: (This may change by reunion time.)

Friday:
2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Arrive, get settled, look around and see who’s here
6:00 p.m. Dinner in the main conference Center
7:00 p.m. ? to whenever Family get-acquainted-activities in the main conference center.

Saturday:
7:00 a.m. Coffee bar will open for those needing a quick start. Also the Center Gift store will open.
8:00 a.m. Breakfast in the main center
10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Those who wish to go to the Pacific Ocean and/or do some Geocaching will have a chance. Hopefully, we can car-pool for those wishing to go. Those who don’t want to go have the freedom of the conference grounds to rest, relax, read, visit with family, etc. There will be a Box lunch ready after breakfast for everybody. Those who are staying at the center can enjoy it in the center or in a quiet spot on the grounds.
6:00 p.m. Dinner in the main center. This will be a bit more formal with set tables and candlelight. No requirement for dressing-up unless you wish to.
7:30 p.m. ? to whenever Sing-a-long and hopefully a jam session (bring your instruments!) in the main center. Be thinking about where our next reunion will be and who will host it.

Sunday:
7:00 a.m. Coffee bar will open.
